Rehoboth Beach Vacation Guide: Food, Fun, and Local Favorites

Rehoboth Beach is one of those special places that feels like a perfect mix of nostalgia, fun, and relaxation. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or your significant other, this charming Delaware town has something for everyone. From the iconic boardwalk to mouthwatering eats, there’s always a reason to keep coming back.

Here’s a personal guide based on my experiences and favorite spots in Rehoboth Beach.

Top Things to Do in Rehoboth Beach

Boardwalk Adventures

The Rehoboth Beach boardwalk is the heartbeat of the town. Walking along it, you can hear the ocean waves crashing, smell the salty air, and feel the energy of families, kids, and couples all enjoying the day. We always make a stop at the arcade. Even if you don’t have kids, it is impossible not to get swept up in the fun. There is something nostalgic about tossing quarters into a claw machine or trying to beat your high score. If you are like us, you could easily spend hours there while the kids play or just embracing your inner child.

Funland Amusement Park

Funland is the classic family owned amusement park right on the boardwalk. The park has 19 rides for all ages, from small rides for kids to a few thrills for teenagers, along with midway games and a nostalgic arcade.

When we visited, we decided to skip the rides after seeing the pirate ship. It looked fun, but we were not feeling up for it that day. Instead, we stuck to the games, which turned out to be a blast. Most of the rides are geared toward kids, but we still had a great time testing our luck at the midway games. We ended up winning a few prizes, which made the afternoon even more fun.

Thrasher’s Fries: A Must Try on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk

No trip to Rehoboth Beach is complete without stopping at Thrasher’s Fries, a true boardwalk classic. Known for their golden crispy fries that are soft on the inside and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt, Thrasher’s serves a simple menu focused entirely on fresh cut, skin-on french fries.

Instead of ketchup, Thrasher’s offers malt vinegar and salt for customers to add themselves, creating a uniquely local flavor experience. Some locations on the boardwalk also sell funnel cakes and drinks to round out your snack.

Long lines are common during peak season, but they tend to move quickly. Portions are generous, often served in buckets large enough to share, making it an affordable and iconic Rehoboth Beach treat.

Grab a bucket, stroll along the water, and enjoy one of the most beloved snacks on the boardwalk.

Candy Kitchen and Saltwater Taffy

A stop at Candy Kitchen on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk is a must for anyone with a sweet tooth. The moment you walk in, the smell of fresh homemade treats fills the air, and it is impossible not to be drawn to the colorful display of candies.

The star of the show is their saltwater taffy, available in classic and fun flavors like banana, cherry, chocolate, cinnamon, cotton candy, grape, lemon, licorice, orange creamsicle, peppermint, and vanilla. The assorted “kiss” taffy has been a favorite for decades, and it is easy to see why. Each piece is soft, chewy, and perfectly sweet, making it one of the best boardwalk treats you can find.

Candy Kitchen also offers rich, creamy fudge in flavors such as chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, vanilla, maple walnut, and chocolate sea salt caramel, as well as a selection of chocolates, gummies, and small gifts. Walking out with a box of taffy in hand, you can enjoy a classic Rehoboth Beach experience while strolling along the boardwalk and taking in the lively atmosphere.

Gym Body Shop Fitness Center

If you are staying in Rehoboth Beach, Gym Body Shop Fitness Center is a convenient option for keeping up with your workouts. Guests can often get free access by simply showing proof of their hotel stay, and the verification process is quick and easy.

The gym is well equipped with everything you need for a full workout, making it perfect for anyone who wants a reliable place to exercise while on vacation. For me, no trip is complete without getting a session in, and Gym Body Shop makes it easy to stick to your fitness routine even while enjoying the beach.

Big Fish is a seafood lover’s dream, and it has become one of our must-visit restaurants in Rehoboth. The calamari is perfectly cooked and a great way to start a meal, while the wedge salad is fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. For dessert, the peanut butter pie is absolutely irresistible and has become one of our favorite indulgences after dinner. One of my personal favorites is the peanut butter French toast. The first time I tried it, it was so good it stayed on my mind, and the last time we went I had to get it again. The Breakfast sandwich is also a solid choice, hearty and satisfying, perfect for fueling a day of walking the boardwalk or exploring the town. The Egg is casual, cozy, and consistently delivers breakfast that keeps you coming back.

For Mexican cuisine lovers, Cilantro Cocina de Mexico is one of my go-to spots for lunch in Rehoboth Beach. I love the authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and vibrant dishes. From tacos to enchiladas, everything I have tried has been full of flavor, and the friendly service makes it a welcoming place to enjoy a meal. It is one of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner.

Theo’s Steaks, Sides and Spirits

The best part about Rehoboth Beach is that everyone will find something they love. While Big Fish and Egg are our personal favorites that we visit every trip, the town is full of amazing restaurants where you can discover your own must-try dishes.

Places to Stay in Rehoboth Beach

Brighton Suites Hotel

Brighton Suites offers great prices and clean comfortable rooms that make it a solid choice for anyone visiting Rehoboth Beach. I really appreciated the central air, which is especially nice during the warmer spring and summer months when the weather can get hot. One of my favorite features is the rooftop area near the indoor pool. It is a perfect spot to get some work done in the morning while enjoying a beautiful view of the town and surrounding area. The indoor pool is also a great bonus, making it easy to relax after a day at the beach.

The Admiral on Baltimore

If you want to stay close to the beach, The Admiral on Baltimore is one of my top picks. Since my last visit, the hotel has been renovated and feels modern and welcoming. It is less than half a block from the beach, making it very convenient for early morning walks or spending the day on the sand. The rooms are clean, spacious and well furnished. One thing I always notice and love about this hotel is the water pressure in the showers. It makes coming back from the beach even more refreshing. The location is also perfect for walking to shops and restaurants on the boardwalk.

The Avenue Inn and Spa

The Avenue Inn and Spa provides a relaxing and comfortable stay with a touch of luxury. The rooms are cozy and well maintained, and the spa adds an extra level of comfort for anyone looking to unwind. I appreciated the quiet and welcoming atmosphere. Makes it a great choice if you want to escape the busy boardwalk for a while. Many guests also praise the friendly staff and attention to detail, giving the experience a personal and inviting feel.

These three hotels are my top recommendations for staying in Rehoboth Beach. Each offers something unique, whether it be location, amenities or atmosphere, and they each made my trips more enjoyable and convenient.
