If you are like me this will be perfect for you. And when I say like me I mean you like dates you like going out but you really like being in the moment. You like moving around. You like having fun laughing and bringing out a little bit of competition.
Boston’s Activate is perfect for you. Here you get to game in the Boston’s first active gaming facility. You jump climb problem solve and laugh as you and your friends move between challenges. It is basically every fun date idea wrapped into one giant playground for adults. Me and Faith absolutely loved this place and we highly recommend it to couples who like moving together and competing with each other.

The variety of games and difficulty settings made the whole experience super personal. You can choose your pace choose your challenge and completely customize how hard or how easy you want to go. The staff was also really friendly and helpful in explaining how the games worked which made the start way easier. The lockers made it simple to store your stuff. And the wristbands were really cool because you get to track your points and see how you are doing. I was impressed by how smooth it was to move from room to room. It gave us so many different ways to have fun without stopping.

Boston’s Activate has eleven rooms total and each one gives a totally different experience. You can reserve your spot for a whole friend group or just two people. Tickets were thirty two per person for sixty minutes and thirty five for ninety minutes. Since it was our first time we went with the sixty minute option. A total of fifty three dollars for an hour of this level of fun is not bad at all. Definitely go now before they get even busier.
I am not going to describe all eleven rooms but I want to share my three favorites and Faith’s three favorites. This way you get both perspectives.
Favorite Game Rooms

This was the first room we went into and I loved how many play options it gave. Just because one game has a name does not mean it is just one mode. Each game has multiple modes for that specific theme so one version might become your favorite. I personally loved the memorize the pattern mode. It was just me and Faith and it got intense especially as the levels went deeper. Grid was a blast and definitely one I recommend starting with.

This room had me dipping ducking diving and dodging to reach the other side. It felt like a movie scene. You know those scenes where Tom Cruise slides through lasers and you think I could do that. Yeah I could not do that. It humbled me quick. But it was so much fun. They have multiple modes for laser so it stays interesting the whole time.

Hide might be the easiest to understand but it builds you up fast. Once you get the hang of it and fall into a rhythm you and your partner start working together to beat the clocks and climb deeper into the levels. Me and Faith played this over and over again because of how fun it got. Hide is definitely near the top of the list.
Her Favorite Games
I love that we got to experience everything together but I also want to share Faith’s favorites

“I had a lot of fun with this one overall. I am a sucker for trivia in any form so being able to combine that with physical competition was right up my alley. Questions with color coded answers came on screen and you had to score a basket in the corresponding hoop. Karl and I ended up playing round after round of this game.

For this game you stood in front of a control panel and followed the instructions on screen. It took a round or two for us to fully get the idea but once we did we had an absolute blast. There was a quick step action that had Karls legs burning so I loved to beat him on that one.

This room had me feeling like the main character in a James Bond movie. Every few seconds a laser would come from the wall and track across the room. We were jumping and ducking and actually worked up a good sweat by the time we finished.
We Had A Blast
Activate Boston is one of those rare places that actually lives up to the hype. It is fun, exciting, easy to learn, and perfect for couples, friends, or anyone who loves moving around and laughing while they do it. It is an active date that keeps you in the moment the entire time. And with eleven rooms and tons of game modes, you never run out of things to try.
If you are looking for something new, something different, and something that brings you closer to the person you are with, this is it. Me and Faith left with sore legs, sore cheeks from smiling, and a list of rooms we want to go back and beat next time.

Activate was really fun overall and it is something we will definitely do again the next time we are in Boston, especially since we are about to head out and make our way to North Carolina. As a couple, going through each room brought joy, competition, and a little thrill that kept us guessing what was coming next.
Boston has a lot to offer but this is easily one of the most fun things you can do in the city. Try it while you can still say you were one of the first to experience it, before everyone else discovers it.
